With a growing rise in the amount of demand generated for next-generation connectivity in Mexico and surrounding areas, it appears global provider Level 3 has taken the step to increase its presence in the country, with its latest upgrade complementing its acquisition of Global Crossing.
Through its acquisition of Global Crossing, completed last month, Level 3 now has the platform to offer a variety of additional services including WAN, IP VPN, wavelength services, private line, high-speed IP and Ethernet local access.
Forecasts from industry research firm Gartner indicates the Mexican market for broadband internet access, Ethernet and IP VPN services is set to increase at a CAGR of 15.8% between 2010 and 2015.
"This is good news for both multinational corporations and telecom service providers that do business in Mexico and are looking for a more direct route to Latin America," said Hector Alonso, Level 3's regional president Latin America. "Mexico represents the second largest market in Latin America and serves as a gateway to the region. With this expansion, Level 3 continues to help businesses gain network efficiencies, and enables global solutions for data and transport services."
Level 3’s network infrastructure in Mexico connects the cities of Guadalajara, Monterrey, Mexico City and Mazatlan through a route spanning 3,484km. The system provides terabits of capacity to transport voice, data and multimedia services.
