According to a report from the Broadband Forum using data provided by Point Topic, Europe and the Americas trail behind holding 30% and 25% of the market respectively.
In the first three months of 2011, global fixed broadband increased by a further 15.2 million subscribers, experiencing the biggest quarterly increase for two years of 2.9% and showing an annual growth rate of 11.93%.
Asia is also the fastest growing region in terms of broadband subscribers with 16.21% year-on-year growth proving almost double the growth rate of the Americas, which grew by 8.55%.
“Broadband is showing healthy double digit growth and has in fact increased its growth rate this year,” said Robin Mersh, CEO for the Broadband Forum.
