After an Autumn field trial, the first 100Gbps connection was put into operation at the end of November and a second is expected to be operational by the end of December. The enhancement will offer speeds 10 times faster than the 10Gbps link previously in place.
Didier Duriez, SVP of international and backbone networks at France Telecom Orange said: “100G technologies can expand the data capacity of our existing fibre links to the multi-terabit capacity necessary to handle exploding traffic growth over longer distances, with an optimised investment.”
