Jan Edvard Thygesen has been announced as COO and deputy CEO of VimpelCom. He has been a member of VimpelCom’s board of directors since June 2008 and has served as EVP of Telenor since 1999. He has also overseen Telenor’s central and eastern European operations for nearly six years.
Since joining Telenor in 1970, Thygesen has held several senior executive positions, including CEO of Sonofon, CEO of Telenor Nordic Mobile and CEO of Telenor Networks AS.
He replaces Khaled Bichara who is stepping down, following his successful efforts in the post acquisition integration of the operations of VimpelCom and Wind Telecom.
