The announcement follows previous statements by Eto’o Telecom which gave the impression that it had become the third mobile operator in Cameroon, when in fact the company was only able to resell telephone traffic for the country’s existing mobile network operators.
Local sources also claim that Eto’o Telecom has applied for a MVNO license but approval is still under consideration.
It had been thought that the company would activate its network on January 21, the opening day of the Africa Cup of Nations.
