Mobile network optimisation market worth almost $3 billion by 2015

The mobile network optimisation market, including 2G/3G optimisation and 4G SON software, is forecast to grow to almost $3 billion by 2015, according to a report by Infonetics Research.

The report found that 78% of mobile subscribers are on 2G networks, with the rest on 3G, and with 4G networks only just getting started. Since the restructuring of China’s telecommunications industry in 2008, Asia-Pacific has become the largest market for mobile network optimisation and SON. The report tracks Tier 1 mobile infrastructure vendors including: Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia Siemens Networks and ZTE, in addition to a range of specialist vendors.
