2017 global telecoms revenue to reach $2.7 trillion

Insight Research estimates that global communications spending will amount to 5.8% of global GDP in 2012.

Total telecoms revenue is forecast to grow from $2.1 trillion in 2012 to $2.7 trillion in 2017 at a CAGR of 5.3%.

North America is expected to have the slowest growth of all regions, with carrier revenue set to experience a CAGR of 3.8%.

Europe, Middle East and Africa are forecast to have the strongest growth, largely generated from developing countries, with carrier revenue expected to grow from $683 billion in 2012 to $893 billion in 2017.

Asia-Pacific and the Latin America and Caribbean regions are expected to be the fastest growing, driven by the economies of China, Korea, Mexico and Brazil.

Asia-Pacific carrier revenue is forecast to grow from $775 billion in 2012 to $1 trillion in 2017, while Latin America and Caribbean revenue will grow from $157 billion to $207 billion.
