The 2500-2560 and 2620-2680 bands are distinguished by their high data transfer rate and are suitable for the provision of 4G LTE services.
Each operator will be granted one 20MHz wide license to use in the two bands, under the condition that they provide 50% coverage to at least five of Lithuania’s cities within three years. This obligation extends to 50% of 15 cities within five years.
Lithuania’s mobile market is led by Teliasonera subsidiary Omnitel, which had a 41.7% market share in December 2011, while second place Tele2 had 36% and third place Bit Lithuania had 22.3%.
