The partnership will allow bilateral data IP services to be sold between Oman and Bahrain and provide transit services to the two companies’ carrier partners. It will also enable Omantel and Batelco to expand their corporate VPN solutions by providing end-to-end MPLS VPN to businesses based in both countries.
“Omantel provides a comprehensive range of managed services to companies and carriers, and this new agreement with Batelco enables Omantel to increase the depth of its MPLS VPN portfolio, adding additional regional capabilities,” said Johannes Boersma, senior manager of capacity and submarine, wholesale business unit at Omantel.
Both companies claim that through the agreement they will further strengthen their offering to carrier and corporate customers in all Gulf Cooperation Council countries and across the globe.
The agreement was signed at the International Telecoms Week (ITW) event in Chicago earlier this month and builds upon an existing partnership between the two companies.
