The demerger will see IFX Networks become entirely dedicated to the Latin American enterprise business. The newly formed IFX International Carrier (IFX-ICS) will concentrate on supporting international carriers looking to extend their enterprise customers’ networks into the Latin America region.
“The new demerged structure will provide our customers with greater resources and options for both their international and local needs,” said Mateo Ward, CEO of IFX International Carrier Services.
IFX Networks has over 14 years of experience as a service provider in the Latin America market and has established a presence in 13 countries. The company serves the international requirements for approximately 6,000 Latin American enterprise customers. It also works with major Tier 1 carriers from Asia, Europe and North America supporting hundreds of enterprises looking for connectivity across Latin America.
According to Ward, there will be clear synergies between the two entities: “Think of our network as a bridge between the local networks in Latin America and the international carriers outside of Latin America.”
He also added that while there will be a focus on growing its number of international carrier and domestic enterprise customers, the demerger will also help support the “outstanding growth” of existing customers.
The restructure will also involve changes to the company’s management. Mateo Ward will lead IFX’s International Carrier unit with Luciano Salata becoming its president & COO. Samuel Mezrahi will remain as CEO of IFX Networks, now fully focussed on the in-region enterprise business, and Michael Abramowitz its CFO.
The company will support the demerger by making further investments in human resources, systems and next-generation routing equipment in the coming months.
According to Luciano Salata, the vision of the demerged carrier unit is to “be the carrier of choice for every international carrier that needs to serve its home market enterprise customers in Latin America”.
