Expanded features include improved access for guests, enabling them to join scheduled meetings from a corporate VP or the internet, and virtual meeting rooms enabling users to hold meetings without reservations through tablets, desktops and conference and immersive rooms.
AT&T is carrying out the expansion with the intention of gaining additional revenue from the telepresence systems market, which is expected to grow by 25.4% per year through 2013.
"These new AT&T Telepresence Solution enhancements help make video conferencing more useful," said Brian Washburn, research director, network services at Current Analysis. "These features cut across different video devices, vendors, and calls types to bring ease and simplicity to the end user experience."
Other additions include expanded hosted call control capabilities for a greater variety of vendor solutions, improved telepresence interoperability and expanded global availability, with the addition of the Philippines and Malaysia enabling AT&T to provide service in 80 countries, and fully managed services in 40 of those countries.
