The PoP expansion, which was first revealed by Capacity in April, is part of NTT’s initiative to broaden its reach in Europe and deliver its network closer to customers.
NTT already has a sizeable customer base in Germany with two PoPs in Dusseldorf and three in Frankfurt and it is believed that the addition of Munich will attract more ISPs and content network providers.
“This is our sixth PoP in Germany. It’s evidence of how important the European network is right now and demonstrates our strength in the market. Our customers are growing and choosing to set up new offices in Munich due to its strong economy,” said Jens Leuchters, general manager CEE at NTT Europe. “With PoPs already deployed throughout Europe’s most important internet hubs, we’re looking forward to continued expansion.”
The Munich expansion follows the launch of a PoP in Milan at the beginning of last month. NTT’s next PoP launch is expected to be in the Austrian capital Vienna to support customers in CEE and the Balkans.
