The facility is located on the carrier’s major fibre route across the Atlantic and its low latency routes into the Chi-X trading platform in Slough.
One of the main drivers for its construction is to cater to demand from US based companies looking to increase their global operations using Level 3’s international network footprint.
"The new Level 3 facility is set to service the rapidly growing demand for enterprise ready data centre space in London, a major European market," said James Heard, Level 3 regional president of EMEA. "Being located on Level 3's fibre network will provide enterprises and service providers access to data recovery, replication, storage and redundancy, backed by a global fibre network,” said James Heard, regional president of EMEA at Level 3.
The Hayes facility features high power density cabinets and suites, 24/7 security and maintenance support and will provide additional capacity to Level 3’s three existing central London data centres.
Level 3 believes that the facility’s location will provide excellent connectivity for financial services companies looking to access European and North American markets.
