Chief executive, Stephane Richard, told newswire Reuters that there were discussions taking place with competitors SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free Mobile but no particular timing for decisions.
It is thought that any network sharing agreement would be similar to the one announced in June between Teléfonica’s O2 and Vodafone in the UK, to improve coverage and speed up the roll-out of 4G infrastructure.
France Telecom’s domestic mobile revenue has been hit by a price war sparked by Free when it launched in the market earlier this year with low cost tariffs.
The French carrier has fared better than its rivals, however, due to a roaming agreement with the new entrant worth an estimated €1 billion.
