Andreas Bierwirth has been appointed as managing director of T-Mobile Austria. He replaces Robert Chvátal who has decided not to renew his contract.
Bierwirth has trained as a banker and an economist and is licensed as a commercial pilot.
He began his professional career as deputy managing director of Eurowings Airlines, which later became the low cost carrier of Lufthansa, Germanwings.
Having served as MD of Germanwings for two years, Bierwirth then moved to Lufthansa as VP of marketing, before being appointed as CCO of Austrian Airlines in 2008.
He was named CFO in 2009 with responsibilities in marketing, privatisation and restructuring of the airline.
