The British carrier claims that the trial will improve business communications by combining Dolby’s expertise in core signal processing and human psychoacoustic perception with its own unified communications capabilities.
The conferencing service with Dolby Voice will “leapfrog” several existing conferencing solutions by creating a spatial audio scene, according to the carrier.
This gives the impression of sounds coming from unique points in space, so call participants can easily identify who is speaking and what they are saying.
“Our objective is for all conference call attendees to become productive participants, engaging more naturally in conversation and generating better outcomes from meetings. We hope the trial of Dolby Voice can provide a unique and improved experience for conference call users, which will lead to us deploying it as part of the BT MeetMe service for conferencing customers in due course,” said Dave Hobday, MD of BT Enterprises.
“Audio conferencing promised a reduction in the need for face-to-face meetings, but when the stakes are high people meet in person to capture important details and express themselves clearly.
