Media reports in India have cited Radius Infratel as claiming that 1Gbps speeds will be available within “the next 6-9 months” to residential consumers.
The company declined to comment which service providers, or cities these plans will first become available, but a spokesperson for the company commented that discussions were underway and networks are being deployed to enable the services in Gurgaon.
Radius has reportedly partnered with real estate developers, including Unitech, DLF and Paramount, in addition to others, for fibre optic networks to provide high-speed broadband services. Under the plans, it is expected a two hour HD video, comprising of 2.2G, will download in 30 seconds.
The Radius network is live in numerous cities including Delhi, and will soon be available in Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai and Chandigarh.
