The Tier-3 data centre, built within the site of Pacnet’s wholly-owned cable landing station, is the first data centre in Hong Kong to achieve LEED certification according to the company.
Pacnet cited its commitment to efficiency to its design decisions, including minimising water usage for maintenance and using solar-powered lighting and intelligent lighting control as reasons for achieving the standard.
“Earning the recognition reaffirms Pacnet’s unwavering commitment to our customers that goes beyond just delivering best-in-class integrated connectivity and managed services, but also our efforts towards more efficient and sustainable business operations,” said Carl Grivner, CEO at Pacnet.
HKCS2 provides customers with access to Pacnet’s EAC-C2C subsea cable and connectivity into Pacnet’s network of 24 data centres in the region. It launched in March this year, and is used by a range of content providers, financial exchanges and technology firms.
LEED is a recognised rating system for design, construction and operation of green buildings.
