The Kuwait-based company told Capacity Daily that it selected Interxion due to the company’s strong position in the European market and the large number of international carriers connected to its Paris facility.
Established in 1991 as Kuwait’s first internet service provider, Zajil claims to now be one of the leading MPLS service providers in the
MENA region.
Joe Antony Cheyadan, deputy general manager, business development & strategic planning at Zajil Telecom, said: “We believe that through Interxion we can build on our international connectivity, as well as connect to European internet exchanges and Tier 1 IP transit providers, such as TeliaSonera and Level 3. We believe Paris will be a good gateway for us to tap into all this.”
The move reflects the growing number of Middle Eastern companies looking to extend their network reach to Europe.
In particular, Zajil has highlighted the potential of the gaming market in Paris, where key players such as EAD Sports and Blizzard host their content. “Through Interxion, we are able to offer our customers better latency resulting in a better experience for end users,” said Cheyadan.
For Interxion, the move helps extend its connectivity to the Middle East region.
Mike Hollands, director of connectivity segment at Interxion, said: “The presence of Zajil greatly enhances the connectivity we can offer our other customers to the MENA region. There is an important growing demand from the market here.”
Zajil Telecom is scheduled to be operational at Interxion’s Paris data centre by the end of this month.
