The Korean operator expects the addition of the service to respond to the growing demand for next-generation roaming services, and allow for more strategic partnerships across the globe.
The service further expands SK Telecom’s global LTE footprint following recent launches of LTE roaming in Hong Kong and Singapore, with CSL and SingTel respectively.
"As the first company in the world to commercialise LTE roaming, SK Telecom is committed to enhancing customer experience through seamless global LTE auto roaming,” said Kim Young-Sup, SVP and head of collaboration marketing office at SK Telecom.
“Going forward, SK Telecom will expand its strategic partnerships with mobile carriers across the globe, while also focussing on enriching the line-up of devices that function in multiple frequency bands."
The service in the Philippines is scheduled to be launched on April 1 this year, and the company plans to introduce LTE devices with the ability operate in four different frequency bands within Q2 of this year.
SK Telecom announced new pricing plans for its LTE subscribers earlier this month.
