Ottendorfer, 44, who is presently managing director of Optus Singtel, will take the post once his contract is terminated with Singtel’s Australian arm. He has been appointed on a three-year deal with the option to extend it by another two.
Ottendorfer, the third appointment to the board, adds to CEO Hannes Ametsreiter and CFO Hans Tschuden.
The 44-year-old was “unanimously appointed” by the supervisory board of Telekom Austria and has over 20 years experience in the industry.
“With today’s appointment of Günther Ottendorfer, the supervisory board has succeeded in recruiting a top manager with extensive international experience in the areas of technology, convergence, IT and operations as well as an excellent overall track record,” Telekom Austria said in a statement.
Ottendorfer was previously CTO of T-Mobile Austria and T-Mobile Germany as well as holding the position of European technology director of T-Mobile’s international affairs.
