KT is looking outside of its domestic market to expand its presence overseas, particularly in the Middle East and Africa.
The operator has dropped interest in Vivendi’s 53% Marco Telecom stake after the operators could not agree on a valuation. It is has now seemingly turned its attentions to other parts of Africa, and also plans to roll out an LTE network in Rwanda.
Wall Street Journal reports that a deal with iWayAfrica is progressing, with a source claiming a deal will be made public very soon.
A KT spokesperson distanced the company away from the speculation, and said that the ISP was “one of its considerations”, but said nothing had been decided.
