KT to buy Telkom SA's ISP IWayAfrica?

South Korean operator KT is reportedly close to securing a deal to acquire Telkom SA’s African ISP iWayAfrica.

KT is looking outside of its domestic market to expand its presence overseas, particularly in the Middle East and Africa.

The operator has dropped interest in Vivendi’s 53% Marco Telecom stake after the operators could not agree on a valuation. It is has now seemingly turned its attentions to other parts of Africa, and also plans to roll out an LTE network in Rwanda.

Wall Street Journal reports that a deal with iWayAfrica is progressing, with a source claiming a deal will be made public very soon.

A KT spokesperson distanced the company away from the speculation, and said that the ISP was “one of its considerations”, but said nothing had been decided.
