Over the past 18 months, network coverage for voice calls and text messages is said to have improved at 1,200 sites, and the number of 2G base stations increased by 50%.
The majority of equipment at these sites is thought to have been upgraded with the latest technology, and the 2G network is expected to offer enhanced coverage and capacity in many locations across Sweden.
The upgrade began in Gotland, an island off the southeast coast of Sweden, in November 2011, before extending to Skane, Vastkusten and Malardalen in southern Sweden.
Coverage was improved in the rest of country earlier this month.
