The deal, worth approximately $310 million in cash and retention-based incentives, will see Cisco take complete control of UK-based Ubiquisys, a provider of intelligent 3G and LTE small cell technologies.
Its services tap into mobile heterogeneous networks for service providers.
The combined entity will be tailored towards integrating Cisco’s mobility portfolio and Wifi expertise with Ubiquisys’ small cell expertise and focus on software for licenced 3G and LTE spectrum.
Ubiquisys employees will be integrated into the Cisco Mobility Business Group, and report to Partho Mishra, VP and general manager of the company.
