The 4G network is initially expected to cover 35% of the population with a maximum speed of 100Mbps, and will reportedly come at no extra cost to its existing customers.
“As a telecoms provider with a focus on the best service, our task is to make technologies human again,” said Johan Andsjö, CEO at Orange Switzerland.
“We are the first to launch 4G services that everyone can afford. Although 4G is really just a very fast technology, we look forward to the many new possibilities this brings to our customers.”
Orange Switzerland is increasing investment in its nationwide 4G expansion by 25% for the second half of 2013, and hopes to deliver the service to 71% of Switzerland by the end of the year.
“Now I see that we can start our 4G services before the planned launch, I am convinced that we will reach the year-end target,” Andsjö said.
“I see us as a leader in 4G in Switzerland, and we will continue to fight for this position.”
The company also claims to be launching six initiatives to enhance customer service, including an overhaul of the company’s customer service helpline and the delivery of 4G devices to customers at any time.
