Under terms of the agreement, CityFibre is to connect its next-generation metropolitan fibre networks to Level 3’s global IP network.
“Level 3 Communications owns and operates one of the largest IP networks in the industry, and we’re pleased to have CityFibre as a customer,” said James Heard, regional president of EMEA at Level 3.
“Our network has more than 6Tbps of global peering capacity and the ability to serve customers in more than 500 markets in 55 countries.”
The partnership is hoped to allow CityFibre customers to benefit from Level 3’s high-speed IP services, as well its enterprise-grade connectivity.
The services will be initially available in York, and are expected to be rolled out over the next 12 months.
“We are delighted to announce this agreement with Level 3,” said Greg Mesch, CEO at CityFibre.
“Its world-class IP service, combined with our future-proofed metropolitan fibre networks make a very powerful combination.”
In April this year, Level 3 was selected by FOX Network for the live broadcast of the UEFA championship soccer final in the US.
