The network will combine IP and 100G optical networking to allow Epsilon to address the growing demand for higher quality and more cost effective broadband and video services.

“Alcatel-Lucent’s converged solution provides us with the benefits of both optical and IP networks with full interoperability between them, and the 100G coherent interface cost-effectively builds upon our existing WDM-based infrastructure.”
Epsilon hopes to be able to offer high-definition video, high-speed internet access and VoIP services to its enterprise customers as a result of the partnership, which also prepares the company for a potential 400G upgrade.

“We are also providing Epsilon with a flexible platform that they can use to expand their capacity to 400G down the road, with only a minimal investment.”
Alcatel-Lucent partnered with Telenor Group earlier this week for the delivery of enhanced mobile services across Europe and Asia.
