Angola Cables serves as a dedicated wholesale and submarine fibre provider, and is the largest shareholder in the WACs cable. It will allow access to backhaul services from the cable in London, as well as long-haul services in Western Europe to connect its IP traffic to internet exchanges in the UK, the Netherlands and France.
Epilson will provide a virtual PoP (ePoP) and enable cross connect services in London, allowing Angola Cables efficient access to service provider networks in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
The operator’s IP traffic will also be distributed to several European internet exchanges including LINX, AMS-IX and the Paris and Ashburn internet exchange facilities.
As a result of the partnership, Epsilon will gain access to Angolan telecoms market, and connect with 500+ network operators globally.
Andreas Hipp, CEO at Epsilon said Angola Cables also hopes to connect to South America in the near future. "Angola is one of the fastest developing economies on the continent and has the potential to become a telecoms and technology hub for Africa,” he said. “When we see the combination of an ambitious operator and strong economic growth, we know we can help to spur on telecoms development.”
