The partnership will see Myat Hein, union minister at the MCIT, open and close the event; the first executive summit uniting Myanmar with the international telecoms market.
“This newest addition to the Capacity Conference portfolio is an opportunity to provide an exciting window into a market that has been closed to the world for a long time,” said Ros Irving, CEO at Capacity Media.
“We are very excited to be here at the beginning of what promises to be a wonderful development story. We are especially happy to be working with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and so many Myanmar businesses to make the event an effective forum for discussion.”
Other speakers at the event include Petter Furberg, recently appointed CEO of Telenor Myanmar, and Jeremy Sell, group chief strategy officer at Ooredoo; both of which were successful in the country’s spectrum auction earlier this year.
Alexandre Pébereau, EVP of international carriers at Orange – which has reiterated its commitment to the country, despite losing out on a licence win – will also be speaking at the conference and expects the partnership with MCIT to have a positive impact on the country’s development.
“We truly believe that Myanmar will become a strategic growth market for the entire communications ecosystem and we hope to meet new partners [at the conference],” he said.
