The company already operates network capabilities to corporations connecting Taiwan, and the operation licence for Type II Telecommunications Businesses allows Telstra to provide services in and out of the country.
Its announcement in Taiwan reiterates the company’s commitment to serving the need of multinational customers in Asia-Pacific, with 12 existing operations in the region already.
“We have previously completed successful applications for operational licences in both Japan and Korea, and were keen to ensure the level of support and product offerings were available for our customers in Taiwan, or who are looking to grow and expand their business into the region,” said Andrew Wildblood, Telstra Global head of Asia Pacific.
Wildblood added that other Asia-Pacific regions had benefitted from a local Telstra operational presence, which had been a key driver in applying for a licence in Taiwan.
The licence provides Telstra with the opportunity to expand its PoPs in Taiwan, in addition to offering billing to customers, cost effective hosting and virtualisation solutions.
