The company began the roll-out of its network in Paris’s financial district, La Defense, at the end of January this year, and is planning the launch of LTE in a further district on September 21.
SFR expects to cover 300 municipalities in the Ile-de-France region by the end of the year, and claims its 4G service offers more coverage than its competitors; namely Orange and Bouygues Telecom.
Paris is the seventh metro area in France where SFR is offering 4G services, and the company hopes to expand this presence to 55 cities by the year end.
Earlier this year, SFR was in talks with rival Bouygues Telecom over a potential mobile network sharing agreement.
