NSN will supply a nationwide radio access network, which is expected to enable 4G services via Tele2’s 2600MHz and 800MHz frequency bands.
“With the ever-increasing demand to deliver high-bandwidth data services anytime, anywhere, operators need to evolve their networks to adopt technologies like LTE,” said Peter Wennerstrom, head of Tele2’s global account team at NSN.
The vendor will also provide a security solution for authentication and data protection, as well as its management system to monitor and optimise the LTE network.
“We are pleased to be entrusted with this project to help Tele2 build a highly innovative 4G network,” Wennerstrom added.
The news follows reports earlier this year that Tele2 Netherlands was delaying its 4G roll-out.
