The Krakow office will be a Research & Development facility, focussing on developing mobile network infrastructure software for mobile operators across Europe.
Samsung believes there is a growing potential for the development of telecommunications technology in central Europe and hopes the additional facility will enhance its ability to support more European operators.
Youngky Kim, EVP and head of networks business at Samsung Electronics, said: “We are delighted to have the new R&D office... in Krakow, the city with high-level technical education and expertise. We expect the Krakow office to contribute greatly to the development of advanced network technologies required by European mobile operators.”
Samsung has been active in Poland for 13 years and runs three further Polish offices in Warsaw, Poznan and Lodz.
The launch of the Krakow office forms part of Samsung’s global strategy for investing in R&D activities, which last year saw the company spend an estimated $10 billion.
