Sprint selects Samsung to support LTE network deployment

Sprint has selected Samsung Telecommunications America to support the deployment of its edge network in the 2.5GHz spectrum through LTE-TDD equipment.

The partnership builds on Sprint’s Network Vision Project and means Samsung Mobile will provide radio network infrastructure, in addition to implementing new services for the delivery of a mobile broadband LTE network.

“We’re excited to deliver next-generation network performance with our announcement of Sprint’s 2.5 GHz spectrum,” said Bob Azzi, SVP – Network at Sprint.

“Samsung is a key partner in deploying our advanced network – not only are they supporting us in building this advanced network, they offer premium smartphones that run on the tri-band spectrum,” he added.

Samsung first launched LTE-TDD in Saudi Arabia, and has followed it with commercial LTE-TDD network deployments in North America and Asia.

“We are honoured and proud that Sprint has selected Samsung Mobile to support the implementation of their 2.5GHz LTE-TDD network, following our previous award for the operator’s LTE-FDD deployment,” added Myung-ho Jung, VP of Samsung Telecommunications America.
