Liberty Global said it had created the position to push the company further into additional wireless services and meet the growing demand for TV, broadband, mobile and fixed-line. The company said it is looking to launch quad-play services in the market, following Vodafone’s acquisition of Kabel Deutschland earlier this year.
It is thought Liberty is aiming to launch the services in the German sector, in a bid to gain market share in Europe’s largest market.
Oxby was formerly director of Mobile & Home phone at Virgin Media, which Liberty bought earlier this year in a deal worth $15.8 billion.
Liberty has been operating an MVNO model in Europe, in markets including Britain, Belgium and Germany, where it owns cable company Unitymedia KabelBW.
Virgin Media operates superfast broadband services to businesses in the UK, particularly to those looking to acquire fixed and mobile services from one provider.
“(Oxby) will further develop Liberty Global’s core mobile network to become a full MVNO operator in most of its European operations,” the company said on Friday.
