According to local reports, Zain Kuwait’s CEO Omar Saud Al-Omar said the deployment of LTE-A will be more targeted compared to the company’s launch of LTE, which presently covers 95% of the country.
Omar said the process will be much slower, concentrating on heavily populated areas of the country, and the company is testing prototypes, with the launch of LTE-A handsets expected before the end of this year.
It will utilise spectrum in the 800MHz and 1800MHz bands for the deployment, leading to faster connection speeds and higher capacity.
Zain Kuwait is also reportedly expecting to generate 25% of revenue from data services.
