The new link connects across the Kenya-Somalia border and then directly into the fibre network of Hormuud Telecom Somalia (HORTEL) for local termination.
HORTEL’s fibre network will provide Liquid Telecom customers – including fixed and mobile operators, in addition to wholesale carriers and enterprises – with connectivity in southern and central Somalia.
HORTEL customers will now also have access to Liquid’s fibre network, which spans 17,000km across Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and provides onward connectivity to five subsea cable landings in Africa.

Liquid Telecom also claims to the be the first wholesale carrier to connect to all east African capitals; including Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Kampala and Kigali on a single fibre network.
