CityFibre and ASK4 sign gigabit connectivity partnership

UK-based CityFibre has signed a deal with long-term wholesale partner ASK4, which will see the fibre infrastructure provider added to ASK4’s strategic supplier list.

Managed services provider ASK4 will now to be able to offer gigabit-speed internet services over CityFibre’s pure fibre infrastructure.

Students in particular are expected to benefit from this agreement, as internet provision has been earmarked by researchers as the most important factor when it comes to choosing university accommodation.

“This strategic partnership will have long-term mutual benefits for both our companies and we look forward to adding value for existing and prospective customers,” said Matt Eley, commercial director at ASK4.

It is also hoped that business customers will benefit from access to superfast, affordable gigabit-speed services, rather than relying on aged copper-based technology.

“Businesses increasingly require unrestricted capacity in order to be competitive in today’s globally connected world,” Eley said.

“Only a 100% pure fibre network can smoothly deliver next-generation applications and services such as cloud computing and real-time communications like video conferencing, as well as enable huge amounts of data to be transferred in seconds. These services transform workplaces, increasing employee efficiency and job satisfaction.”

ASK4 has signed five contract extensions with CityFibre and Rob Hamlin, director of business development at CityFibre, said: “Now that CityFibre is on the ASK4 strategic supplier list, we will be able to quote for supplying new customer connections and for replacing connections for existing customers with our ultrafast fibre network.”

In October this year, CityFibre deployed gigabit connectivity to Peterborough in the UK, via its fibre-optic network.
