Level 3 establishes presence in Sabey's New York data centre

Level 3 Communications, has announced it will establish two network points of entry at New York data centre facility Intergate.Manhattan.

Seattle-based Sabey Data Center Properties launched operations at the Intergate.Manhattan data centre in March 2013 and will soon house service providers from the US and Europe.

Level 3 already has presence in Sabey’s data centres in Seattle, Wenatchee and Quincy in the state of Washington, with the carrier building on its existing relationship with the data centre provider.

When completed, Intergate.Manhattan will accommodate 40 MW of critical data centre capacity within its 600,000 square feet.

“As one of the largest media hubs in the world, Manhattan is an important location for Level 3 IP and data centre connectivity,” said Paul Savill, SVP of product management at Level 3.

“Connectivity to Sabey’s Intergate.Manhattan data centre expands our global data centre assets to provide customers with additional options to store and access critical business information.”

The companies said the deal will also help Sabey Data Center Properties to leverage Level 3’s fibre, particularly on its IGX network, which interconnects all of its data centres.

IGX allows the Sabey’s east coast customers to take advantage of the low-cost hydroelectric power that is available at the company’s Washington data centres.

Daniel Meltzer, Sabey’s VP of sales and leasing added that the deal will give both companies the opportunity to tap into key vertical sectors across the city.

“With the addition of Level 3 as a carrier at Intergate.Manhattan, we are excited about the opportunities both companies have to leverage the key vertical markets in New York City, including healthcare, financial services, social media and many more,” he said.
