Wireless solution provider AirTies will deliver its innovative OTT technology to Orange to allow the operator to facilitate multiscreen and on-demand pay-TV services.
AirTies has also deployed an STB (set top box) platform for the company, which combines traditional broadcast technologies with advanced IP/OTT technology to create a seamless interface for OTT and digital television services.
“Using OTT and cloud technologies has a number of advantages for pay-TV operators,” said Bulent Celebi, executive chairman and co-founder of AirTies.
“The operator is able to address any consumer with a broadband connection, with the adaptive bitrate working to adjust to the available speed – multiple rooms or TVs can easily be supported without expensive media gateways and new marketing or services can be deployed easily in the cloud.”
In November, Orange looked to be competing with players in the OTT space following the launch of its smartphone app.
