Orange integrates roaming charges in tariffs across Europe

French operator Orange has announced it will include roaming charges within its tariffs in key European markets.

Orange claims the deal is the first of its kind and will be launched across major European markets including France, Spain, Belgium, Romania, Poland, Slovakia and Luxembourg throughout 2014.

“Orange shares its customers’ conviction that using a mobile phone abroad should be worry-free. Today’s bold initiatives are designed to deliver on that promise, removing the need for many of our frequent roamers to even think about taking out a separate bundle,” said Stéphane Richard, CEO at Orange.

At the same time, the operator announced that 4G roaming will be launched in February for French customers travelling to the UK, South Korea and Portugal.

The company further announced that they have reached technical readiness to launch 4G roaming in five more markets which include Spain, Romania, Portugal and Moldova.

4G roaming will reportedly be available across all Orange’s European markets by the end of 2014, including major destinations outside of Europe.

“We have made tremendous progress with our 4G deployments in Europe and beyond and with roaming now a reality, our customers travelling abroad can get the full benefits of their smartphones without surprises,” added Richard.
