AT&T expands 4G capacity in Oregon

US- based AT&T has acquired 700MHz and AWS spectrum licences from Oregon cable company BendBroadband.

The deal, for which the terms were not disclosed, includes two 20MHz licences for 1.7/2.1GHz AWS spectrum and one10 MHz licence for 700MHz B Block spectrum in Oregon.

The US giant plans to use the freshly-acquired airwaves to bolster its LTE network capacity in the region. In its application to the telecoms regulator the Federal Communications Commission, AT&T said the acquisition will "achieve greater operational efficiencies and offer improved, more robust and advanced services to meet the needs of new and existing subscribers".

The news follows an announcement made at the end of January that AT&T signed an agreement with data centre provider Equinix to speed up the adoption of cloud services for enterprises.
