BICS’ solution will offer access to exchange points across its own infrastructure, meaning CSPs and ISPs can peer without a physical presence at the peering point.
“Remote peering offers all the benefits of peering without complex set-up processes or heavy capital and operational costs,” said Johan Wouters, SVP capacity business management at BICS.
“Our extensive network footprint, broad portfolio of wavelength services, the Marseilles cable landing station and support teams make our remote peering solution an effective way for agile communications providers to expand their networks quickly,” he added.
ISPs utilising the service will also be able to offer their customers larger networks without the expense of co-location, equipment and rack space.
The launch follows a recent reseller agreement with AMS-IX. Mark Cooper, CCO at the Dutch internet exchange, said that BICS was a valued partner for its reseller ecosystem.
“As BICS owns an extensive and robust network throughout the world, parties now have an increased choice of access points to choose from, making it easier for them to remotely connect to AMS-IX in Amsterdam,” Cooper said.
In January this year, BICS partnered with Hurricane Electric to expand and upgrade its European network.
