Infinera’s Intelligent Transport Network will enable Windstream to offer faster services and lower operational expenses. The expanded capacity will help Windstream keep pace with growth in mobile data, cloud services and increasing video traffic.
Infinera’s software features 500G super-channels and integrated 5Tbps optical switches, which enable automated service delivery.
“By deploying the Infinera Intelligent Transport Network, Windstream will significantly increase the capacity of our network infrastructure to meet the needs of our customers,” said Randy Nicklas, EVP of engineering and CTO for Windstream.
In January this year, Windstream won a $1.6 million contract to provide fibre connections to three US military bases.
