The operator secured frequencies in the 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands in Slovakia’s spectrum auction in January this year, and plans to roll out the network across the country in the next few months.
Orange Slovakia paid a reported €56.1 million for the spectrum, and other successful bidders of the auction included Slovak Telekom, Telefónica Slovakia and new mobile operator Swan.
Orange’s 4G LTE network will be designed to support speeds of up to 100Mbps, enabling services such as HD video streaming and video conferencing.
The company expects the network to cover at least 25% of Slovakia’s population by the end of 2015.
National incumbent Slovak Telekom launched its LTE network in November last year.
