Vodafone finalised its acquisition of Kabel Deutschland in October last year, and Colao said at a press conference in Germany yesterday that Kabel Deutschland’s position could also serve as a hub for its other European operations.
“[Kabel Deutschland] will become the core of the fixed-line business in Germany, possibly outside of Germany as well,” Colao said.
Vodafone has lost its position as leading mobile operator in Germany to Deutsche Telekom and Colao is looking at new opportunities to increase revenue and subscribers.
As well as expanding geographically – and as part of Vodafone’s growth revival strategy – Colao said that the company was looking to target new business areas.
“It is about using Vodafone more and more outside mobile; we’re going into hosting, into security, into protection, into entertainment,” said Colao. “Watch Vodafone Germany, because it will always be one or two years ahead of the others.”
Last month, Vodafone Germany conducted a live test of LTE broadcast at Borussia Mönchengladbach's football stadium in Germany.
