Orixcom claims to be the first carrier to offer such low-cost access in Dubai, thought by many to be the hub for digital services and content in the Middle East.
“Previously, this service has been unavailable and similar types of services were priced significantly higher,” said Andrew Grenville, CEO of Orixcom.
“Now customers have a realistically priced option for low-cost business internet access, which really opens up connectivity to the Middle East and supports the region’s ambition to advance in the critical area of business communications,” he added.
Paul Black, director of telecoms and media at ITC, expects the pricing structure to provide clarity and transparency for customers.
“It is a significant departure from the usual pricing strategy in the region and as a result opens up a host of possible services and potential benefits for a wider range of customers in Equinix DX1,” he said.
Orixcom first launched at Capacity Middle East 2012 in Dubai, and in its first year has reached a number of milestones, including a partnership with UAE-IX, as well as the launch of a virtual PoP in Africa.
