Under the terms of the deal, Etisalat’s customers will benefit from access to on-demand content via TV, PC, smartphone and tablet.
“We always strive to provide the best content to our viewers via a selection of different platforms, so that programmes and shows are available anytime and anywhere,” said Abdul Hadi Al Shaikh, executive director of digital media services at Abu Dhabi Media.
“The partnership strengthens our position as a major production destination in the country as well as the region,” he continued.
The move strengthens Etisalat’s multi-play service, eLife, which provides customers with TV and fixed broadband and voice services. The service was recently upgraded, allowing customers to watch TV content on multiple devices.
“We are delighted to be signing this important agreement with one of the most significant media establishments in the UAE and the region,” said Rashed Al Abbar, VP of home services at Etisalat. “Our aim is to provide our subscribers with high-quality programmes in order to enrich their viewing experience.”
Earlier this month, Etisalat signed a LTE roaming agreement with Mobily, enabling 4G coverage for customers in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The move is said to enhance the connectivity and experience for users travelling to both countries, with Saudi Arabia said to be one of the largest roaming destinations for Etisalat.
