The company, which has so far not been named, has submitted an official request for spectrum, which would make it the first to roll out 4G services in the country.
The three leading operators in Jordan are Orange Jordan, Zain Jordan and Umniah.
In February this year, the government turned down applications for 4G licences from local player Kulacom and US company Ameriphone.
According to the government, Kulacom was unable to provide a financial guarantee to make the investment, while Ameriphone was turned down as it provided a guarantee from a foreign bank rather than a bank in Jordan.
The government has been encouraging the three operators to apply for 4G licences, and ICT Minister Azzam Sleit told local media that the door remains open for other operators to acquire frequencies to introduce 4G services.
