Akamai’s first packets were delivered across DE-CIX New York today (April 17). The move builds on a long-term partnership between the two companies, with Akamai also using DE-CIX’s services in Europe and the Middle East.
“Akamai’s Intelligent Platform is a leading cloud platform for delivering high-performing user experiences to any device, anywhere. IT reaches globally and delivers locally,” said Steven Schecter, senior manager of network architecture at Akamai.
“Having this new internet exchange in New York will enable us to connect with other peering partners across a resilient Ethernet platform,” he added.
DE-CIX officially launched its internet exchange in New York last November, going on to expand its reach through 111 access points across Manhattan, New Jersey and Long Island in February.
